We begin with a free 30-minute initial chat. This is a relaxed opportunity to talk about what brings you to counselling, ask any questions you may have and see whether working together feels right for you. After that, if working together feels right for both of us, we can book our first session on a suitable day and time and go from there.

There is no set number of sessions. Everyone is different, so we can regularly review how counselling is helping and decide together what feels right for you.

I hold face-to-face sessions in a rented space in Newquay, Cornwall. I also offer online and telephone sessions from the comfort of your own home. Walk & Talk counselling is also availble in Newquay, but please note this is only based on prior agreement and is weather dependant. Together, we can find an approach that feels comfortable and suitable for you.

Each counselling session lasts for one hour. This gives us time to settle into the session and explore whatever feels important to you, without feeling rushed.

My approach is Person-Centred, which means there is no set agenda or programme to follow. We work together at your pace, exploring what feels important to you in a safe, accepting and non-judgemental space. You don't need to know exactly what you want to talk about before you begin.

Sessions are usually weekly to begin with, giving us time to build a comfortable working relationship. As our work progresses, we can review the frequency and consider moving to fortnightly sessions if this feels appropriate.

Counselling is your choice, and you can decide when you feel ready to finish. We can talk about ending the work together and make sure there is time to reflect on your progress and bring the counselling to a meaningful close.

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and talk about what has brought you to counselling. There is no pressure to share anything you're not comfortable with, and we'll work at your pace.
